finding something to do

i dont have a lot going on. my time is mostly spent finding something to do...

january 13th 2014: the shoe that becomes your foot?

i got some pretty good things in the mail today. jays book, life is sweet, about the sugar canes finally arrived. rolling five deep of course. the ps4 games. and the stuff from mom for christmas. even my batman came in today. perhaps a sign of things to come for tomorow? one can only hope.

todays thing to do was going to see 'american hustle.' it wasnt a bad movie, but it kinda felt like a chore at some points. the ending was somewhat expected and im curious to see what reviews were for it. this is the last time brett and i will be going to the movies and i wouldve hoped for a better last one. it really doesnt matter, but id like to know the last movie i saw was good. er.

january 12th 2014: what. was. that?

id said i was going to scale back on the concerts this year and so i stopped keeping up with things as much as i would. thanks to that i missed the trans-siberian orchestra last night. that wouldve been so much better.

today was a trip to london with brett for quidam.

lots of interesting sights on the way. kinda makes me want to go down and see stuff like that castle by the 'hung drawn and quartered.' we passed by the tony hawk place...saw buckingham palace...not bad. it still sucked in its own english way though. i mean, the traffic...its just terrible. we almost got smashed between two merging cars. sigh.

it was a pretty solid show. it was a little slow to get going, but it picked up and went hard as they say. it was surprising to see a cirque show without a tumbletrack or something equivalent. the only other show that ive seen without one was criss angel's believe. that kinda made sense though.

january 11th 2014: don(nette) cheadle

another lateish-in-the-morning trip to the commissary. another walk through desolation. out of gardenburger, boca, and that other brand thats fairly expensive products? annies? something like that.

cleaning up the kitchen enough to give it the look of "not so bad."  catching up on shows for the week. after the winter breaks i got out of the swing of things. its kind of a good thing too though because otherwise what would i do with the morning?

tonights time killer will be going out for a pub crawl. it doesnt seem like anything spectacular, but sometimes you dont do stuff based only on how fun it may be. part of preparing for that is taking a nap which leads to a dream about robbing a store or something. somewhere in there im attacked by a dog. somewhat voluntarily though so someone else could get away.

the outing lasts until around 2:15ish at some place near the dragon house. i didnt like it from the start, but it seemed to be a favorite of the people in the group so we waited it out. british women dont look the greatest.

january 10th 2014: there isnt an emotion you wont feel tonight.

today was kind of just a blur of things happening. like shorthand notes from something you forgot you did a few weeks ago.

lunch with jed. talking about stevie wonder:

him: didnt know if you knew who this was

me: im black guy that grew up in the 80's. of course i do.

he cant relate. a song idea about a perfect world where everybodys black. "im black. youre black. everybodys black!"

beach balls.

i forget the conext, but later someone references africa and i say, "its a small city in cuba." the few people within earshot have a chuckle over it.

i go take a few photos for brett and we talk about random things. at some point he asks, "how much ps2 do you play?" and odd question. he walks over to a book shelf and hands me maximo. i let him borrow that game 10 years ago. i had pretty much forgotten about it though it would cross my mind when sparked by something related to it. seems that it had been weighing on him to return it since we parted ways in '05. the fact that he rebought it a time or two with the intention of returning it said a lot. but the fact that he had it here with him says even more.

closing the night with "sainthood"

january 9th 2014: so many words

"and all of them...faggot"

kicked off todays workout with some random unplayed songs. leading off with "defend you" for good reasons.

brett and ed had their retirement and going away things today. it was a good time and better than those thing tend to be. makes me think about how this is my one year mark.

"they never did tell us to enjoy life, here it is because before you know it life has passed you by"

going back to work and the guy at the gate questions the whereabouts of my bike. it wouldve been nice to have since the day was all right. id planned to get it between leaving work and going to a thing, but that didnt happen.

getting home and playing borderlands for a bit. we'd finished the bunker so now it was just on to the warrior and jack. not in that order. we've been through that so many times, but today it took forever. and then came the out(r)age as steam went down. it came back up with enough time to get through the first section, however not enough to go on to the big battle.

and off to the portland arms to see a show. i expected the last show we saw to be something bigger. maybe electric six or that black sabbath show. instead it ended more or less how it started. less covers though.
