january 8th 2014: war on poverty
lunchtime work out and mae. one of the better things in life.
sitting with jed. silence for a while. "this place sucks," i say in disgruntled disgust. laughs for all.

after waking up i check my email. its the first thing i do even though i can usually guess what ill see. an amazon deal for the day, something from newegg about a sale, hardforum deals. hm, just noticed the trend in my emails. thats probably why i think about buying stuff all the time. its the first thing put into my head every morning. anyways, today i woke up to an email from joana about a joke i told her a long time ago. a better start to the day.
working out with kid rock.
somewhere in the day i get yet another email. this time from at&t. my bill is due soon which isnt a big thing. in any sense of the word. after all, my account is on hold or whatever. so when i open it and see that its like 50 dollars im caught a tad off guard. turns out they never put my tablet on hold, only the phone numbers. seems odd, but twas an easy fix.
im still in school. well, im not. im just not done. and going on another break. really wish i could come up with some motivation again to just knock this out but things keep happening and i get somewhat screwed. the management class last time. active directory this time. not great.
what is kinda great though is that i was able to get cirque tickets for quidam. whoop whoop. had to go through 3 websites and a fraud alert hotline, but it happened. and a humble bundle came out with bit.trip runner 2 and joe danger 2. things are looking up.
starting the day with a workout and silverstein. discovering the waterfront was something of a hidden gem in music library. and now i have slight regret about not seeing them in november, but at the same time i may not have appreciated all the songs as much.
got a test date today. february 4th. thats it for that...
so after talking to ol' tony the other day i got into wanting to record some things. the problem with that being how id actually do that. supposedly i can use my rocksmith cable for that and i tried. the downside was that i couldnt hear as i was playing which is a total mind slap in the moment. and what i did hear had a slight delay. i know a lot more about things that i did 10 years ago so why isnt this coming as easy as it did then?
and the night was finished with a movie. last vegas. good laughs and pretty enjoyable. definitely could see picking that one up later.
an idea popped into my head earlier that i should use a section of this to plan out any trips id like to take. i only have a little time left and that may help me keep up with stuff i want to do. now i just need to think of places id like to go...
recently i opened and setup my sdcc transformers. days later a friend posted that he was ordering one of the ones that i had and so that sparked a bit of conversation. turns out we both have the same ones, but thats besides the point. perhaps as fallout of the transformers talks, he posted a link to an interview by ron friedman. while long and somewhat self centered, it was a good read.
so, what else happened today? well, i got my pre-release mustard plug album. browsed a few squarespace templates. went running for the first time in months -- didnt like it. watched monsters inc to follow up yesterday. took a nap. and watched the transformers movie for possibly the first time.
and somewhere in there learned that god/jesus are pretty much the flash. or is that the other way around?
like an average saturday, this one started off with a trip to the store. usually i try to get in at opening or i just wont go. reason being its oddly crowded. however, i figured id take my chances with not beating the rush and went around 10 something. with an ipod and no rush to get to anything that makes it easier to deal with. well, i get there and do my shopping with the 10 or so other people. no rush at all.
looking into effects of potassium deficiencies...adding potassium pills to my next shopping list.
the gym on the other hand was full of people. its also small so that throws things off. i had a decent workout along with some 'crooked fingers' to back me up. hearing 'black candles' immediately made me settle on the soundtrack for the day. mid routine 'dont say a word' really got me wanting to construct something and put my mind into some kind of inspirational mode, but it was hampered by that shoulder thing. im starting to think ill never have the range i had through any natural means. ill reflect on that later. shouldve done it a few months ago...its not too late i guess.
mailing my rebate. +1 productivity.
at some point in the day i think about being young and on a soccer team and later a baseball team. my earliest soccer memory is being told we would practice dribbling. of course, i only knew of basketball dribbling so it seemed like an odd request. other than that all my memories are me sitting around in the grass waiting on games to be over. baseball was the same but with a solid dislike for the sport.
and i ended my day with monsters university and a claims form (+1 again for productivity). looked great and well executed. perhaps today ill watch monsters inc since mu turned out to be a prequel.
i just noticed the hilaridence (hilarity + coincidence) of my title. field of dreams happened in iowa. and my soccer thing did too. oh, world...
